Chairman
Paulus opened the Public Hearing relative to the review
of the Proposed 2007 Budgets. Chairman Paulus noted that
in attendance at tonight’s meeting was the Township’s
Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director, Mr. Robin
Yoder, as well as the Township’s Public Works Director,
Bruce Pudliner. He advised the Board that they are here
to review the Fire and Emergency Management Budgets as
well as the Highway Budget. Council determined to begin
the review with Mr. Robin Yoder and the Board proceeded
to review the Proposed 2007 Budget Department for Fire.
After review of the proposed Fire Department Budget, Council
determined to make no changes to same. Council subsequently
reviewed the Department Budget for Emergency Management
and no changes were made to the proposed 2007 Budget for
Emergency Management.
At this
point in the meeting, Council reviewed with the Township’s
Public Works Director the Proposed 2007 Highway Budget.
With respect to the review of the Highway Budget, it was
determined that the line item for 2007 Pickup Truck with
Plow would be revised from $35,000 to $40,000. In that
regard, the Township’s Public Works Director advised
the Board that this truck would replace the 1992 GMC Utility
Truck which has over 90,000 miles. The new unit would be
a 2007 Ford 350 Diesel One Ton with Plow.
At this
point in the meeting, there was some general discussion
with the Township’s Public Works Director. Mr. Pudliner
indicated that he had an opportunity to review the bid
for the garbage/recycling contract. There were no problems
that he could find with the low bidder specifications.
Mr. Pudliner noted that he would be meeting with the new
hauler and that all pertinent information could be placed
in the upcoming newsletter. The Public Works Director also
advised the Board that the Township’s leaf machine
is not operating at the present time. It has been taken
to Allentown Fabricators since it needs a whole new shaft.
However, Mr. Pudliner did not think the repair would take
very long. Additionally, Mr. Pudliner advised that with
respect to putting lighting at the Airport/Race Street
intersection we may be only able to place two lights not
three on the current standards. There was also a discussion
about placing security cameras at Canal Park. The Public
Works Director advised that he has been dealing with the
security people that handle the Township Municipal Building
and they have indicated that these types of cameras would
be available. Chairman Paulus commented that you almost
want to put a sign up indicating there is 24 hour surveillance
in the park. There was also some discussion about the cameras
being rotating cameras and high definition. The Public
Works Director advised that he would keep Council apprised
of further development in that matter.
At this
point in the meeting, Council determined to close the Public
Hearing with respect to the review of the proposed 2007
Budgets. The next Special Meeting on the Budget process
will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 7:00 P.M.
