Mr. Skim
Keim, 1635 N. Halstead Street, appeared before the Board
and entered into a discussion with respect to the possibility
of declaring Cedar Hill Drive a snow emergency route. He
indicated to the Board that there are always parking issues
in that area and that he thought making the road a snow emergency
route could expedite the road on a priority basis. Council
informed Mr. Keim that the industrial parks are the priority
with respect to snow plowing due to the thousands of people
utilizing those roads. It was also noted that currently in
the Township’s Statutory Code Cedar Hill Drive is no
parking from November to April on the eastern side and that
the entire westerly direction is also no parking. In any
event, it was determined that the Township’s Public
Works Director would speak with the manager of Allendale
Apartments regarding this request.
Mr. Keim
also advised Council that a block watch has been established
in the Cedar Hill Drive area. He noted that everything appears
to be working out and that there are 15 block captains. Random
walks are taken and they have noticed that noise disturbances,
crime and vandalism are down. Mr. Keim also indicated that
the state police have a state policeman designated for crime
watch and that he has offered them assistance and cooperation.
Mr. Joseph
Feskanin, 1680 N. Irving Street, approached Council indicating
that he still has a concern over the allocation in the current
budget of $250,000 for the Canal Park project. He was of
the opinion that the large appropriation could possibly be
utilized elsewhere. Council noted that they are still looking
ahead to doing that project which includes dredging the Canal
bed. Councilman Atkinson commented that it is very improbable
that they will spend the monies next year however. It was
also noted that monies can be reappropriated to other projects
if required.
