The Township Clerk advised the Board that currently there is not an elected Chairman for the Hanover Township Council for the year 2007. In that respect, the Township Clerk requested nominations from the floor for the position of Chairman of the Hanover Township Council. Councilman Kovacs nominated Bruce Paulus for the position of Chairman of the Council for the year 2007.

26. General discussion and overview for the Year 2007

The Township Clerk advised she did not foresee any major problems arising in the year 2007. Further, she felt the Township was in a good financial state for the operation of government in 2007. At this point in the meeting, Chairman Paulus discussed the recent article in the newspaper concerning surplus funds in other townships. After further discussion, Council determined we should possibly change our charter. The Township will check with Attorney Eaton concerning a possible change. Councilman Dreisbach discussed a recent newspaper article concerning the tripling of cost of recycling in many municipalities. Council reiterated they were pleased that the Township had recently signed a five-year contract with J. P. Mascaro concerning the rising cost of refuse and recycling. At this point in the meeting, Councilman Kovacs questioned whether the Township had any problems with the new recycling refuse company. Council noted that the supervisor had followed the truck throughout the Township to check that everything was completed.

Council discussed the continuing situation at the Scottish Inn involving trucks parking in the grass. It was noted the Scottish Inn had spread modified on the grass area between the building and Airport Road. Mrs. Roth advised Council the Township would investigate this matter, it was noted by Council that further legal action needs to be taken concerning this continuing problem.
