Trash and Recycling Trash Collection
Collection will occur once a week on Thursdays. Put your cans out the night before. Bulk items like furniture, mattresses, etc. are picked up Thursdays. White goods (washer, dryers, etc.) need to be scheduled by calling J.P. Mascaro & Sons. Items that contain freon must have freon removed with certified sticker.

Recycling Collection
Collection will change to EVERY WEEK on Thursdays.
Single Stream Recycling — All of the recyclables are commingled, so that you do not need to separate the items.

What to Recycle?

  • Aluminum food and beverage containers
  • Glass food and beverage containers (brown, clear, or green)
  • Ferrous (Iron) cans
  • PET plastic containers with the symbol #1 with screw tops only, without caps
  • HDPE natural plastic containers with the symbol #2 narrow neck containers only (milk and water bottles
  • HDPE pigmented plastic containers with the symbol #2—narrow neck containers only, without caps (detergent, shampoo bottles, etc.)
  • Plastics with symbols #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 narrow and screw top containers
  • Newsprint
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Magazines
  • Catalogues
  • Cereal boxes
  • Telephone books
  • Printer paper
  • Copier paper
  • Mail and all other office paper without wax liners

On holiday weeks, if pickup falls on or after the day of the holiday there is a 1 day delay.

E-Waste Alert! Disposal Ban
Solid waste disposal facilities in Pennsylvania are no longer allowed to accept covered devices such as televisions and computer devices including hard drives, monitors, keyboards, mice and printers or their components.
You can take them to our drop off centers.

Recycling

Containers
Do you need to obtain another recycling barrel or lid? Hanover Township is offering a replacement to you. You must come to the Township Building during normal business hours and provide proof of residency. We encourage all residents to clearly mark their bins & lids with their names and addresses. If you move, please leave your bin for the new owner or tenant.

Residential Recycling Collection
Items to be recycled are: clear glass, colored glass, (green & brown), plastic (PET & HDPE), aluminum cans, steel & bimetallic cans & newspapers. Each township household has a recycling container with a lid. All recyclables will be co-mingled with the exception of newspaper, which must be either bundled & tied or placed in brown paper bags. Normal collection day is Thursday morning. Put your trash & recyclables out Wednesday night. Our recycling is provide by JP Mascaro.

Commercial/Industrial Source Separation
Hanover Township, Lehigh County, by Ordinance has required that Commercial and Industrial facilities initiate their own recycling programs. Designated materials for commercial industrial source separation are as follows: Clear glass, Steel & Bimetallic cans, Colored glass (green & brown), High Grade office paper, Plastic Pet (No. 1), HDPE (No. 2), Corrugated paper, Aluminum cans, All questions relating to this program should be directed to our Recycling Coordinator, Josef Fragnito at 610.264.1069.
