The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is urging motorists to never drive through flooded roadways.

When heavy rain is in the forecast, motorists should be alert for potential flooding on roadways and in low-lying areas. Drivers should always obey warning signs and traffic control devices, and never drive through flooding or standing water on roads. Shallow, swiftly flowing water can wash a car from a roadway. Also, the roadbed may not be intact under the water.

Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties and fines up to $500 if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs.

Motorists are also reminded that Pennsylvania law requires headlights to be turned on anytime a vehicle's wipers are needed. Drivers should turn on their full headlights during rain events as the daylight running lights feature on some vehicles does not automatically turn on the taillights.

We're approaching Springtime and it's that time of year again where our Public Works Department will be out street sweeping. Please make sure your cars are moved on your street's designated day to avoid getting ticketed and so that the street sweeper can smoothly sweep the Township streets without delays. It is unlawful for any person to permit any animal to run at large upon any public thoroughfare, upon any public ground, or to run at large on any private property, other than that of its owner.

It is further unlawful to permit any animal on township park property.

Owners are responsible for immediately removing and properly disposing of all animal excreta from any public property or any private property.

Stray animals should be safely contained, if possible, until contacting the township for advice on animal pick-up or drop-off by the township's designated organization.

LIHWAP Re-Opening As you are aware, LIHWAP will officially reopen on Monday, July 10 and will run until August 11 or until all funds are expended. The program will run with the same eligibility criteria as when the program was available in 2022, although please note that the income limits have adjusted to align with the LIHEAP limits.
